TechnologyOne’s Application Managed Services (AMS) program is helping Seven Network to manage day-to-day system administration and upkeep, so it can focus on more strategic initiatives
Case study highlights
- Streamlined processes with automation
- ETL setup reduced from one day to half an hour
- System upgrades reduced by two hours
The Challenge
Seven Network is one of Australia’s leading integrated media companies, with over 5,000 employees and a market-leading presence in broadcast television, publishing and online.
The organisation was struggling to maintain business-as-usual (BAU) system administration on its TechnologyOne software and needed additional support to help keep things up-to-date.
“We needed to alleviate time spent on BAU tasks, so we could focus on more strategic initiatives that add value to the organisation,” said Gin Naing, Finance System Analyst, Seven Network.
The Solution
Seven Network engaged TechnologyOne’s AMS team for access to guaranteed consulting services to assist with software maintenance, upkeep and optimisation on a regular basis.
“AMS has enabled us to increase efficiency by focusing on continuous system improvements,” said Naing.
“I’ve been a system administrator for about six years now and I still don’t have the full expertise that AMS has.
“We use about 30 AMS hours each month; it’s flexible, efficient and means we’re making the most of our technology investment.”
The Outcome
Seven Network now uses AMS to assist with a range of day-to-day activities, from upgrading and installing patches through to setting up ETLs and improving general automation.
“Whenever we need to complete an upgrade or install a patch we can ask AMS to do this – it used to take us three hours but with AMS it takes less than one,” Naing said.
“We used to play around testing things for half a day, however with AMS, they show you what to do and how to do it, so we can keep pace with enhancements.”
Seven Network can now extract, transform and load data faster, producing reports in a fraction of the time.
“ETL setup was taking up to a day to complete manually and now it takes half an hour,” Naing added.
“We’ve set up multiple ETLs for budget initialisation so when we complete this each year, we don’t need to change every single ledger. All we need to do is click one link and that processes everything in the back end.
“The level of expertise we get from AMS is great – it saves us a lot of time and makes everyone’s life easier.”
