TechnologyOne Customers share cloud strategy at Showcase 2017
At Showcase 2017, TechnologyOne customers shared their cloud strategy. Customers say benefits of the TechnologyOne Cloud include cost savings, scalability, security and anywhere-anytime access using Software as a Service (SaaS).
“We are seeing this inexorable drift of data up into the cloud, part private cloud and then up beyond into the public cloud, as it becomes a more efficient solution,” he said.
Prior to moving to the cloud, customers found they were spending a lot of time and expense maintaining on premise IT infrastructure.
For many customers, moving to the cloud was a strategic move to enable digital transformation and future-proof their organisations.
“We're not in the business of running IT shops, so we would like to get most of our products into a cloud situation, as close as we can. That's our strategy,” said Jim Harrop, Manager of Administrative Applications, Information Services at University of New England.
Chris Bates, Manager of Information Services at City of Holdfast Bay, said: “The first step in us enabling a digital transformation was to take up TechnologyOne's Software as a Service. We didn't want to be maintaining and administrating our environment on premise anymore, or in an alternative cloud model. We wanted to re-deploy that administrative effort into improving the use of our products and our technologies.”
Rob Irving, Director of IT at University of New England, says that for his organisation, moving from traditional on premise IT to a cloud provider was a decision that could not be delayed.
“Our current data centres are coming to the end of life, so we've got about two or three years to move off all of our current equipment and move that into the cloud. We're taking this as an opportunity to change the way that we do our business, to take the advantage of what that cloud offering provides us,” he said.
“One of the key benefits of cloud computing is that customers don't have to worry about the complexity of IT. TechnologyOne's enterprise solution simplifies IT radically for customers.”

Since moving to the cloud, customers have reported experiencing a range of benefits, from cost savings and scalability to higher mobility and less complexity.
TechnologyOne’s Group General Manager of Corporate Products, Government, Financial Services and Health and Community Services, Peter Gill, said: “We know about the cost benefits. We know there's a 30 per cent cost saving immediately, but what you also get out of this is the ability to scale more effectively. You have elasticity built in. It means that at high usage times, you can actually scale up your platform and at low usage times, you can bring it back again.”
Anna Liu, Strategic Partner Development at Amazon Web Services, said: “TechnologyOne and Amazon Web Services have a strategic partner relationship. It is an important relationship so that we can provide the most robust and best enterprise solution for our end customers.”
“One of the key benefits of cloud computing is that customers don't have to worry about the complexity of IT. TechnologyOne's enterprise solution simplifies IT radically for our customers. There's no need to do patching and ongoing maintenance of the IT environment, because all that undifferentiated heavy lifting is already done for you by the cloud, through the cloud.”
Chantelle Valdez, Application Support Analyst at Shellharbour City Council, added: “When I work with TechnologyOne, I know that they will deliver us into the future in the digital world, and that makes me feel excited and trusting in them that they can provide the solution we need for our customers.”

The TechnologyOne Cloud delivers a massively scalable environment, running our software for thousands of customers with full accountability to each customer. TechnologyOne is uniquely placed because we own, build and support our software, unlike hosting providers which hand-craft each customer’s environment and simply host third party software in the cloud, with no accountability for the software itself. TechnologyOne’s enterprise Software as a Service is the perfect marriage between infrastructure and software delivered through a standard web browser. This simplifies your IT, allowing you to focus on efficiency and innovation in your business. Existing customers using our on premise solution can easily transition to the TechnologyOne Cloud - it is the same software. The data and configuration is simply migrated to the cloud and is ready to go. There are no software re-licensing costs to move to the TechnologyOne Cloud.
