New Zealand Digital Citizens Continuing the Journey with Empathy

Digital technologies have revolutionised how governments interact with their citizens, providing more accessible and convenient services. In New Zealand, central and local governments have been implementing a range of digital services to meet the needs of citizens. To ensure that these services are effective and responsive, it is essential to understand how citizens engage with them.

Based on the largest-ever evaluation of citizens’ thoughts on government services, this study provides valuable and independent insights into how New Zealand citizens use digital central and local government services.

Commissioned by TechnologyOne, this study was conducted independently by the research and advisory specialist firm IBRS between December 2022 and January 2023. It is the most comprehensive study of digital citizenship in New Zealand to date.
